Spring is in the air

The title is a very common phrase that we say and hear every year at this time. After a long, cold winter, the first signs of spring are in the air, with cool mornings and evenings, while the temperature rises at midday. These signals are what motivate most people to go out and start collecting what was hidden under the snow. It’s contagious!

In this edition we’re celebrating Earth Day and promoting the great clean-up campaign that each year takes effect in Lawrence, coordinated by Groundwork Lawrence, Comcast and the city administration, to be held on Saturday, April 26, starting from Campagnone Common, where participants will congregate.

As in previous years, we will join in this effort and we urge residents to come and join this group of volunteers and the authorities, to enforce existing ordinances regarding disposal of garbage and debris.

But all this effort will not pay off unless we all take part in monitoring the violators of these ordinances. If we want to keep the city and its neighborhoods clean, we all have to take part of, not only cleaning and sweeping the same sites year after year, but rather to monitor and report violators.
