Tribute to veterans on their day

            Celebrating Veterans Day, the City of Lawrence held a special program in the auditorium of the South Lawrence East School, on November 11, 2015.

Distinguished guests were sitting on the stage with the Mayor, Daniel Rivera, such as Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, whose speech appears in full on page two; Father Chris Casey Lawrence Catholic Academy who officiated at the opening and closing prayers and Melinda Bullock, Army, Community Recovery Connections Team, based in Bedford, V.A. Medical Center.


 

Sitting in the audience were Representatives Diana DiZoglio and Frank Moran.  Marcos Devers sent his legislative aide to represent him; Councilors Marc Laplante and Roger Twomey; newly elected councilors Brian DePeña and Jhovanny Rodriguez; Fire Department Chief Brian Moriarty and Martha Velez, Senior Center Executive Director.

Special presentations were provided by the female JROTC High School Steppers with their coordinated dance routine, a special performance of Guilmette Middle School Bucket Drumming Ensemble and the voices of the Lawrence High School female chorus, which closed the event with a great interpretation of God of Bless America.
