Hispanic Week festivities has Arrived!

Summer festivities begin every year with the Semana Hispana festivals and its pageants, featuring girls of all ages competing not only in beauty but also in talent, something that has become the identification stamp in the Spanish-speaking society.

This year, expanding their activities, Semana Hispana, announced four new activities to its usual programs, beginning with a D’Gala Dinner at the Elks’ Lodge during March, followed by a Cultural Fair on April 17 and a talent contest among a group of children that took place on Saturday, April 23rd. The new addition, the Miss Grandmothers, the most anticipated of all is not until May 7.

These contests are a wonderful experience for girls and their families who spend a lot of money preparing for competition time. Usually the night of the event is full of fun and everyone who attends, no matter what nationality, enjoys it.

These competitions are being held at the local YMCA located at 29 Haverhill Street in Methuen. We encourage our readers to assist them to cheer the contestants.

Hispanic Week this year celebrates 37 years of existence. Imagine that among the first contestants in the Miss Grandmothers category we find some that were chosen queens in 1979.

Do not miss this election to celebrate together!
