“Carlos Carlos is not a veteran,” says Erving Severino, owner of Independent Import Specialists, Inc., located at 139 Jackson Street in Lawrence. “He is the producer of ‘The Control of the Night’, program that is broadcast daily from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Power 800 and he always has an open door to pass along any information about veterans.”
Severino is not a veteran either; he’s just a volunteer with Queen City Chapter #2 DAV, that since he opened his shop at the old fire station located at 139 Jackson Street, he and his wife Giny, set a goal that Holy Week, New Year’s Day and Veterans Day would be sacred dates for them.
The cookout offered to veterans attracted not only area veterans but a group of Patriots Riders of America #3, residents of Garden, MA. “In addition to being very impressed with our group and inviting us to visit them, they left us a very generous contribution to our event,” Severino said.
