I wrote so much this week that I ran out of material for my column. I would like to direct your attention to page 2 and the article Devers and his Supporter where I made a curious analysis of the support that Mayor Dan Rivera gave him.
Also, on page 8, I talk about the future of the Lawrence Elections Department. That department is a disaster and immediate action must be taken. I hope you let me know if you share my view of the situation. If not, I would like to know as well and start a dialogue to find solutions together.
As you can see, the column will be short but I was occupied on other things.
Tribute for Frank Benjamin
Bill Benjamin, Frankie’s son, is planning a memorial for Mr. B on October 13 at the British Club from 2-6 pm. In the next few weeks we will continue reminding all of his friends and give you more details.
Submitting photos to us
We always make our pages available to anyone wishing to write or sending pictures of some event or activity that we are not able to attend. I would like to ask for a favor when submitting pictures. Kindly make sure that they have good quality, they are clear and not large groups of people.
Our newspaper is always available to everyone but it’s better when the pictures do justice to our culture and achievements.
The Biggest Loser!
The election on Tuesdays had some winners and some losers. Mayor Dan Rivera, in my opinion, is the biggest loser without running for any position. For someone who is now a seasoned and experienced politician he picked all losers.
He endorsed Josh Zakim over Secretary William Galvin who claimed to make him mayor, Zakim lost.
He endorsed Alex Vega over incumbent Register of Deeds Paul Iannuccillo, Alex Vega lost.
He endorsed Juana Matias for Congress and Juana Matias lost.
I am wondering if it was just a low turnout or he was the one who gave them all bad luck.
