On September 21st, a group of Friends, colleagues from WCCM 1110 AM and admirers of the late Bruce Arnold celebrated a reunion for the purpose of raising funds to create a scholarship fund in his memory.
The event was held at Mann Orchards in Methuen with Michael’s Motors in Lawrence and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence as sponsors. They were planning to sell 200 tickets at $100 each but people kept showing up event after the tickets were sold out donating the money for such a good cause.
There were plenty of appetizers to make it a meal and a drawing for $7,500 that Al Torrisi won. In the generous gesture that characterizes him, he donated his winnings back to the fund.
Over $20,000 was raised and the money now is with the Essex County Community Foundation. By next spring, a system to grant scholarships will be set up. You may still make your tax deductible contribution to www.brucearnoldscholarship.com.
“It was a wonderful night!,” said Lenore Pettinelli Salvucci, Bruce’s widow. “It was like a class reunion for all of his friends from WCCM.”
