As we go on living…
My readers are aware that I try to cover local issues in this space because local concerns have the most immediate impact on our lives.
We must also recognize that cultural changes are slow to take effect nationally but, by the time they become alarming, lots of people have been brainwashed, and becomes more difficult to fight them.
For several months, I’ve been writing about changes taking place in education and it has become apparent that most people don’t understand what’s going on. I hate to think that they don’t care.
This weekend I read something by Ben Shapiro of The Daily wire that I had not heard before and frankly, it scared me to think about the way this country is going. This is just an excerpt from his article:
“The National Retail Federation forecasted that over the next few weeks, we Americans will hand retailers nearly 1 trillion dollars. In doing so, we must choose wisely which companies receive our hard-earned money.
“This year, Walmart used our money to force critical race theory on their employees, encouraging them to denounce the United States as a ‘white-supremacy system.’ Target used our dollars to forge a partnership with a company that manufactures trans underwear for children.
“Just this weekend, Disney used consumers’ money to release an animated film called Strange World, in which a woke father encourages his 16-year-old son to flirt with another boy.”
That goes beyond politics and political parties. This is the mentality of the people teaching our children in schools yet, parents fail to speak out and the brainwashing continues.
We are losing about 100,000 young people to drugs each year, and the next generation won’t have any respect for this country due to the training they are receiving today from the media and schools.
And, speaking of schools…
One of the best front page stories we ever had was announcing the new school uniforms that were to become a requirement at all public schools with a beautiful picture of young models from our city. It was a new era welcome by parents because uniforms represented spending a set amount for their children’s school clothing. An added benefit was that it would eliminate competition among students. But most importantly, it improved self-esteem and discipline among students.
I don’t know when those restrictions were lifted but I believe that they happened at the same time the discipline problems began, particularly at the high school level.
Some students are wearing flannel pajamas going to school. Perhaps it’s one of the many bad habits they learned during the pandemic but it is time to put some restraint on their liberties. We keep blaming the pandemic for everything but the parents and teachers in their lives should be imposing discipline and good manners on them.
The pandemic is over. Let’s end the free-for-all. The use of uniforms proved that students felt better about themselves and their behavior showed it. Students need all the guidance we can give them; let’s begin there and you’ll see the improvement.
