Howard Koh, MD, to Serve as Keynote Speaker at Healthcare Leadership Summit Focused on Social Determinants of Health

On Monday, April 29, from 8 am to 12:30 pm, Lawrence General Hospital will bring together a range of national and regional thought leaders to discuss the social determinants of health and the impact they have on vulnerable patient populations. The keynote speaker for this event is internationally renowned public health expert Howard Koh, MD, MPH. Sponsored by Merrimack College, the event is free and open to the public.

The social determinants of health are the economic and social conditions that influence the health status of both individuals and entire communities. They are the health factors related to living and working conditions (such as distribution of income, housing, and personal power), rather than the individual factors that influence the risk for a disease, such as family history, cigarette smoking, or high blood sugar.

Title of presentation: The Future of Population Health: Addressing the Social Determinants.
