There is an old saying that says if you do not like the weather in Massachusetts, wait five minutes. In Lawrence, the more desperate you are to read about good news; you just have to wait a week for the new edition of Rumbo.
This time the good news is about a 17-year-old senior student of Central Catholic High School, who has been studying piano and dance since she was 5, has performed in local theater, won a scholarship to the New England Theatre Conference in Natick and now emerged winner in the contest conducted by Merrimack Quota International of Andover, competing against eight other contenders.
Why are we so happy?
First, because she is from Lawrence; second, because she is a female and third, because she is Latina. Three reasons for those who thrive on bad news and think no one like her can succeed yet, she has managed to get there.
And this is not the end. With this opportunity, she is closer to her dream of acting in New York.
Congratulations to Nurilys Cintron Merrimack Valley Idol 2013 and we wish her all kinds of future achievements.
