MassVOTE today reminded Massachusetts voters that they must register to vote before the August 15 cutoff date or they will not be eligible to participate in the Sept. 4, 2018, primary elections.
“In Massachusetts, thousands of voters are deemed ineligible each year because they miss the voter registration deadlines,” said Cheryl Clyburn Crawford, executive director of MassVOTE. “Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to change this archaic and arbitrary rule, so it’s critical to remind voters to register by the August 15 deadline.”
Voters can register in person, via mail, or online through the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website at www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/

MassVOTE reminds voters that in Massachusetts, voters do not need to show proof of citizenship to vote, and everyone has the right to cast a provisional ballot, even if told they are ineligible.
