Mayor Brian A. DePeña Honors Late Sergeant Charles M. Saindon with
Posthumous Promotion to Lieutenant

Lawrence, MA – (March 28, 2025) – Mayor Brian A. DePeña and the Lawrence City Council
posthumously promoted Sergeant Charles M. Saindon to the rank of Lieutenant within the
Lawrence Police Department in recognition of his exceptional service and dedication.
Lieutenant Saindon, who passed away on February 26, 2024, had completed the written
portion of the Lieutenant’s exam but was unable to complete the assessment section before his
passing. During a ceremony held yesterday, Mayor DePeña presented a proclamation and a
certificate of appreciation to his wife, Kelley, and their children, David and Cassidy. The family
was also presented with a Lieutenant’s badge and gold collar pins in his honor.
Provisional Chief Melix Bonilla praised Lieutenant Saindon’s commitment to the
Lawrence Police Department over his 20-year career, highlighting his impact as a mentor and
leader.
"Lieutenant Charles M. Saindon’s dedication to Lawrence will never be forgotten. This promotion
honors his service, leadership, and the lasting impact he made in our community and the Police
Department," said Mayor Brian A. DePeña.
Lieutenant Saindon joined the Lawrence Police Department in 2003 and served in various
roles, including Community Policing, K-9, Auto-Theft Detective, Marine Unit, and Motorcycle
Unit. He was a dedicated Field Training Officer, guiding new recruits with care and
professionalism. His legacy of service and mentorship continues to inspire his colleagues and the
community he so faithfully served.
