It is of the public domain a 76-page report prepared by Mayor Daniel Rivera’s Transition Team and we will not discuss here the validity of some of the recommendations. There will be time to discuss them and if approved, carry them out.
We prefer to focus on something that the team did not think of, highlighting the work of municipal employees, so often ignored and when making budget cuts, they are the first ones to get a pink slip.
We know that by decision of Mayor Daniel Rivera, the former mayor’s private parking sign was replaced by Employee of the Month, which Lynn Tran, from the Office of the Comptroller has been enjoying. The prize includes free parking throughout the month.
Our intention is to create a monthly section in Rumbo to highlight the values of the employees selected, and publish his/her photo prominently. This time, we know that the choice was made by the mayor as he admitted on the program CrossOver on Tuesday and that in the future the department heads will be responsible for the selection.
Congratulations to Mayor Rivera by this idea that will definitely become morale boosting for our city employees.
