MERRIMACK VALLEY CREDIT UNION CELEBRATES TWO MILESTONE ANNIVERSARIES

Credit Union commemorates 10 years headquartered in Lawrence, Mass., and one year at branch in Seabrook, N.H.

LAWRENCE, Mass. — Merrimack Valley Credit Union (MVCU) is celebrating its 10th anniversary headquartered in Lawrence this September.  The only financial institution based in the city, MVCU has built a strong and diverse membership that runs throughout the Merrimack Valley.  September also marks the one year anniversary of the opening of its Seabrook, N.H. branch in the Seabrook Commons.

“Merrimack Valley Credit Union is proud to call Lawrence our home,” said Peter Matthews, MVCU’s President and CEO.  “This location puts us right in the heart of the region we serve, and has allowed us to embed ourselves in the community as a partner and participant.  We look forward to growing alongside our membership from this headquarters for years to come.”

To honor these anniversaries and share the excitement throughout the Merrimack Valley, the Credit Union is giving money back to its current and future members through a consumer loan promotion.  Anyone who opens a new consumer loan with the credit union will receive $10 back per $1,000 up to $250 in the form of a VISA Gift Card.  Details, terms, and conditions are available at www.mvcu.com/anniversary.

In September of 2007, MVCU relocated its headquarters from Osgood Street in North Andover, Mass., where it had resided since its founding as the Communications Workers Employee Credit Union in 1955.  The last 10 years have seen the credit union expand its network of branches to six, including the Lawrence Riverwalk branch that faces Merrimack Street, and the newest branch in Seabrook.

With the relocation, MVCU has embraced opportunities to become part of the fabric of the Lawrence community.  The Credit Union is an active participant and supporter in the Lawrence CommunityWorks (LCW), and a member of MVCU’s senior management team serves as the Treasurer of the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council.  A college scholarship was awarded this past spring to a deserving graduate of the Lawrence Public School System, and numerous other Lawrence community organizations have received support and funding from MVCU.
The Credit Union’s presence in Seabrook has seen marked growth in the last year due to a location more convenient to its membership on New Hampshire’s Seacoast.  Since opening the branch in September 2016, former members have rejoined the credit union, and MVCU has welcomed numerous new members.
“This past year in Seabrook has been exciting for the Credit Union,” said Matthews.  “We are able to introduce more of New Hampshire to the MVCU model – where our goals are only to provide the best financial services we can in a way that best serves our members.  New Hampshire’s Seacoast is vibrant and dynamic, and being a part of this region is vital to the future of MVCU.”
The Seabrook branch team has participated in numerous community events, including those hosted by the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce, the Seabrook Firefighters, and Winnacunnet High School. A graduating senior of Winnacunnet High School was awarded a college scholarship this past spring.
