In 1957 a big group of students passed the exam to become new operators of motor vehicles at the RMV. The following boys will be new drivers in the City of Lawrence: Paul Sarcione, Ellsworth Brown, James Rosenberg, James Tondreau, John Cronin now a Methuenite and a retired electrician. Mike Ackery, Ed Lonardo a Lancer hoop star now retired from Raytheon; Charlie Keenan of the Salisbury Keenans now and also a fine roundball player, David Smith, Dick Gazda, Frank Gerato, Rick Parthum a now retired teacher and still active in LHS alumni activities who was also a big runner in our area, Dave Faeber, Mark Wicholas, Dario Pepe, Nazareneo Nastasti. Also George Kawash, Bob Klute, Tony Branco, Joe Mele, John Hosty a good little baseball pitcher for the Lancers; Ron Caron, Moe Ferris another good pitcher who lived in Southie and now lives at the Cape.
Chuck Gugliemino, Tim Beauchesne, Ken Donahue, Joe Grudzinski, Ray Wholey, John Brown, Walter King, Al Valerio, Bob Erban, Carl Rullo, Larry Adams, David Morrow, Gerald Fox and Kachadoor Naroin.
The warning is out for these new drivers in the City and now the worst is yet to come as the new lady drivers are now filling the streets of the area:
Barbara Farnham, Peggy Emmert, Phyllis Frass, Shelia Young, MaryJane Guiney, Gerry Sullivan, Corrine Solak, Claire Wheeler, Noreen Claus, Ann Herzog, Gerry Autiello, Marcia Dillon, Elizabeth Connor, Jean Whalen, Helen Weisman, Patricia Coughlin, Joyce Tineo, Louise Uliano, Roberta Bernstein and Miriam Casey. It was a happy and proud group of students who obtained the right to drive after taking driving courses at LHS in 1957.
Please ignore my feeble attempt at humor about women drivers be proud of all these new drivers that probably learned more about driving than most of us senior citizens. The 1957 new drivers are ready to put the pedal to the mettle.
