On April 12, 2019, a group of patriotic Lawrencians with the support of the City of Lawrence and endorsement of Massachusetts State Senator Barry R. Finegold (D-MA), recognized Brother’s Pizza with a State Proclamation.
“A longtime businessman, George Nacopoulos, along with his family, has made immense contributions to the Lawrence community,” said Finegold. “Mr. Nacopoulos utilized his creative vision and business acumen to launch an incredibly successful neighborhood eatery, not counting many other real estate investments that are highly commended within our Commonwealth. Patrons come from all neighboring communities to dine in his unique pizzeria and to enjoy its singular set of choices. I am proud not only of his achievement as a small business owner, but also for the immeasurable good work he does by serving as a leader in the community. I am glad to recognize him today and award him with a state proclamation,” said Finegold.
In 1988, Mr. Nacopoulos purchased his first business and used his culinary skills to build his popular Brothers Pizza in Lawrence. After successfully transforming that unique property, Mr. Nacopoulos joined other real estate ventures, acquiring and redeveloping several residential and commercial properties in the state, making sure rents remain affordable.
For over 30 years his business has employed hundreds of local residents, helping many families facing financial hardships, and has continuously supported the local market through a struggling economy and strenuous recession. Apart from being an entrepreneur, Mr. Nacopoulos is an active philanthropist donating to numerous charities, sports clubs and assuring educational scholarships. He is very well liked and respected in the community for his humility, dedication and trust.
“We are grateful to George and his family for investing in the City of Lawrence and remaining a true friend of the community,” said Jennifer Lopez a longtime friend, patron and grassroots leader.
George Nacopoulos was born in Greece and immigrated to Lowell, Massachusetts as a young teenager in 1964. He enrolled at Butler Middle School and graduated from Lowell High School. During 60’s and 70’s there was a major wave of immigration that occurred that built the Greek-American community in Lowell. Like many other immigrant families the Nacopoulos were pursuing better economic opportunities and the American dream. Mr. Nacopoulos married his wife Daphne and together they raised their three children Alki, Alex and Petros. Now the couple lives in Tewksbury enjoying precious time with their granddaughter.
The Massachusetts House of Representatives offers its sincerest congratulations to George Nacopoulos in recognition of Brothers Pizza. The entire membership extends its very best wishes and expresses the hope for prosperity and continued success in all endeavors.
