State Representative Frank A. Moran (D-Lawrence, Andover and Methuen) today welcomed Dominican Bachatero Domenic Marte to the State House to honor the artist for his work and achievements in music and present him with a citation on behalf of the Massachusetts State Legislature. Representative Moran was joined by Lawrence City Councilors Brian De Peña and Ana Levy in honoring Domenic Marte.
“Since beginning as an artist in 2004, Domenic has been a symbol for Dominican’s in Massachusetts and around the country. Domenic is a lifelong Lawrence resident, and thus is someone who has put our community and our vibrant Dominican heritage on the map for all to see. I congratulate Domenic on all of his success, and I thank him for being a positive role model for all in Lawrence. Thank you as well to Councilors De Peña and Levy for helping us honor Domenic here today,” said Representative Moran.
“Representing Lawrence as a member of the City Council has always been a great privilege for me, and I’m thrilled any time we can honor fellow residents for their achievements. Congratulations to Domenic Marte on an outstanding career to this point, and I look forward to seeing his continued success into the future,” said Lawrence City Councilor Brian De Peña.
“The Dominican and Latinx pride in our community is special and worthy of celebration any chance we get. Domenic has made our city proud at every stop of his career, and I’m delighted to join my colleague and Representative Moran in honoring him here at the State House today,” said Lawrence City Councilor Ana Levy.
Marte has been writing, singing and producing bachata music since his debut album in 2004, creating multiple top ten hits on Billboard’s Latin Tropical Airplay chart. Marte notched his second number 1 song on this chart in May of this year with the hit Tu Final from the album Al Fin Libre.
