The privileged councilor has not made a payment By Dalia Diaz

Estela Reyes has not made a payment on the building permit for the repairs on her house at 173-175 Haverhill St.

I know that Councilor Estela Reyes has no shame and doesn’t get embarrassed over this but I wonder why she never got a fire watch imposed like the Tomaselli sisters one block away.  I wonder how many more people besides Estela are doing the same.

Inspectional Services did not give her a stop-work order for lack of payment, either. See why I said this is “privilege”?  Compare this to the house James O’Donoghue was building paying for permits and all the requirements.

This city operates shamelessly and none of the councilors shows any respect for the residents; no matter what I write, they remain silent. The problem is that we have no leaders in Lawrence representing us. Some people say they all have to be replaced but with whom? I’m just afraid that anyone we elect could end up being worse.

They are hiding from the public by holding their meetings almost in secret because not everyone has access to the internet to watch the hideous zoom transmissions. Other cities and towns have been watching them on television while keeping the proper distance and acrylic panels separating them.

They should not fear the public because only Richard Russell and probably one or two more residents would attend the Chamber meetings.  This community doesn’t care what goes on enough to complain.  Now we are really doomed!
