BY ALBERTO SURIS :: During the weekend of September 19-20, 2009, Lawrence went back in history, during the celebration of the 7h Annual Civil War Weekend.

Men and women dressed in blue military garment, the official color for the Union Army camped at the Lawrence Common. They slept in tents, cooked on an open fire, took care of their horses, fired muskets and cannons, and told stories of the Civil War.

As in previous years, we were visited by President Abraham Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd, the Mayor of Baltimore, George William Brown (Ralph Vincent) and also Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant and wife Julia. In real life, General Grant is Sam Grant and Mrs. Grant is Julie Marin.
