Kinetic Smiles, Inc. Celebrates the Second Annual Kinetic Ride & Family Day
Kinetic Smiles Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes healthy, active lifestyles through community-based programs across the Merrimack Valley, welcomed cyclists, families, and community members to Lawrence on Sunday, August 9, for its second annual Kinetic Ride & Family Day.
The event featured three cycling routes designed to accommodate riders of different ages and skill levels. Attendees also enjoyed family-friendly activities, live music, a back-to-school backpack giveaway, and more.
Kinetic Smiles was established to raise awareness of spina bifida, a condition affecting the spine and spinal cord that can present lifelong mobility and health challenges. The organization supports individuals and families navigating life with the condition while promoting greater understanding, inclusion, and community support throughout the Merrimack Valley and beyond.
“As the mother of Kamilah, a resilient young woman with spina bifida, this work is deeply personal to me and my family,” said Dahianara Liranzo, founder and executive director of Kinetic Smiles. “My daughter’s experience has inspired me to create inclusive spaces where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to move and thrive.”
“Kinetic Smiles represents the strength, determination, and heart of my niece, Kamilah,” said State Representative Frank A. Moran. “As her uncle, I could not be prouder to see her inspire our community to come together and raise awareness for other families affected by spina bifida.”
“Kinetic Smiles is doing important work to raise awareness of Spina Bifida and ensure that individuals and families facing mobility and health challenges know they are seen, valued, and supported,” said State Representative Estela Reyes. “I commend Dahianara Liranzo and everyone who helped make this year’s Kinetic Ride & Family Day a meaningful celebration of inclusion, resilience, and community.”
“Kinetic Ride & Family Day is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when we bring families, local organizations, and community partners together,” said State Representative Francisco Paulino. “This event promotes healthy living while creating a welcoming space for residents of every age and ability to connect, have fun, and celebrate the strength of our Lawrence community.”
The second annual event welcomed 89 cyclists and more than 200 attendees, including Jeudy Liranzo, a renowned cyclist and athlete from the Dominican Republic. All proceeds raised through the Kinetic Ride will directly support free wellness programming for young people across the Merrimack Valley.
