On Friday, December 20, 2019, a gigantic mural was unveiled on the side of the building occupied by the Lawrence Public Library, created by Marquis Víctor and his Elevated Thought team.
The mural is the result of an 18-month public art project funded by the Creative County Initiative, supported by the Essex County Community Foundation. The theme “co-creating culture” is evident in the mural’s progression of past, present, and future depictions of Lawrence.
Several community organizations supported this project including the Lawrence History Center, Lawrence Heritage State Park, Groundwork Lawrence, Lawrence CommunityWorks and Lawrence Partnership. Additionally, a number of youths contributed to the design of the mural.
