MAYOR DEPEÑA ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR 

OF PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT

Lawrence, MA – Mayor Brian A. DePeña is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael J. Owens as the new Director of the Personnel Department. This appointment marks a significant step forward in enhancing the city’s commitment to excellence in management and operations within the Personnel Department.

Michael J. Owens comes to the position with an outstanding academic and professional background. He earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University, where he distinguished himself by receiving an award as an outstanding oral advocate through the Legal Practice Skills Program in 2018. Additionally, Owens holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

The depth of his expertise and his commitment to service excellence positions Owens as an ideal leader for the Personnel Department. His leadership is expected to further the department’s mission in supporting the city’s employees and advancing the interests of the Lawrence community at large.
