Members of Queen City Chapter 2 D.A.V., placed a wreath at the beginning of Saint Mary Cemetery, right at the intersection of Currant Hill Rd. and Baker Street, to honor those buried there, many of them, soldiers who perished in World War I.
Commander Joe Augusta, reading from previously written notes, reminded us of their sacrifices and thanked them for their service.
After finishing their short ceremony, the group joined the celebration that was taking place on Memorial Day at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
