MVCC Mixer at Methuen Memorial Music Hall
By Alberto Surís
albertosuris@rumbonews.com

The Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce held a successful after hour mixer at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall (MMMH), located at 192 Broadway, in Methuen. The mixer was sponsored by Enterprise Bank, the Party Connection and Uno Chicago Grill.
The members who attended the mixer at the MMMH not only had the opportunity to network and exchange business cards but to enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages and to top it all, a private concert on the Organ’s hall by renown Organist Chandler Noyes.

The Methuen Memorial Music Hall, originally known as Serlo Organ Hall, was built between 1899 and 1909 by Edward F. Searles (1841-1920). It was designed by architect Henry Vaughan (1845-1917).

The Music Hall contains the "Great Organ", built in 1863 in Germany for the Boston Music Hall. Vaughan's architectural commission was to design a concert hall for the express purpose of housing the organ in the visual and acoustical setting that Searles felt it deserved.

Preservation of the Music Hall and the "Great Organ" is managed by a private, volunteer, nonprofit corporation. Contributions to help fund the restoration, maintenance and operation of the property are always welcome, and are tax-deductible.

Further information on the "Great Organ", the Music Hall and musical events at the hall is available online at www.mmmh.org, or by writing to Methuen Memorial Music Hall, Inc., Post Office Box 463, Methuen, Massachusetts 01844-0463. Call (978) 685-0693 for recorded information about Music Hall events sponsored by the Board of Trustees.
Admiring the organ is Edward J. Sampson, Jr., President Board of Trustees de MMMH and Dave Burbank. Burbank’s grandfather used to tune the organ back in the 40s.
