Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Latinos all over the United States are celebrating our heritage in many different ways.  In Lawrence, we just had elections and there is nothing to celebrate; the apathy shown by the voters at the polls and the third world tactics employed in politicking, demonstrated that we have not advanced in this country and this aspect of our Hispanic heritage that we brought to this country is not worth celebrating.

We allow the political baggage from back home to control our daily lives here making it impossible to make intelligent decisions that would permit growth and prosperity for our families and societies.

Yes, we should have had a Latino candidate for Senator on the ballot for November 4, 2014, but the in-fighting, the caste system and prejudices within the Spanish-speaking community have us all so segmented that the English-speaking residents will always see us as inferior – because we behave that way.

Bravo for Hispanic Heritage!
