Lawrence just celebrated Hispanic Week 2014. Hispanic Heritage Week, as we all know, is composed of 10 days of cultural celebrations that begin with the VIP lunch, various ethnic cultural nights ending with a carnival-type festival, which lasts three days at Campagnone Common, including a mile-long parade that usually begins at Central Catholic High School and ends at the park where they offer a variety of artistic performances.
Looking at the number of enthusiastic participants seems to be a direct response to the theme of Hispanic Week festival this year, “Honoring Our Heroes.” While we watched them parading, we were filled with admiration seeing that some of them did it with the help of a cane, but they walked!
It is easy to describe all these activities in a few lines or pages, but for organizers of cultural nights and activities of Hispanic Week, which includes not only the parade and celebration in the park, but a series of competitions for the purpose of selecting the queens, it is understandable if they even get sick with nerves.
Congratulations to each one of the organizers of the Hispanic Week activities for a job well done!
