Lawrence Partnership: Know your City

Lawrence Partnership: Know your City

On the second Thursday of each month, Lawrence Partnership presents a series of speakers for the purpose of getting to know our city better.  The public in attendance has been able to ask questions of the guests clarifying their doubts on issues or learning about the administration and its operation.

Last week, Fire Chief Brian Moriarty began with a slide presentation describing his department in many details.  While we tend to think that they only put out fires, he explained their many duties responding to medical emergencies and all kinds of threats to the community.

William Castro, provisional police chief came prepared with all kinds of statistics and gave specific numbers about the role of the police department in the city.  For example, the audience found out about the cases of domestic violence handled by the police amounted last year to over 400; what’s more impressive is that only 4 of those cases remain open.

These sessions sponsored by Lawrence Partnership have proven to be very interesting and educational.  We’ll keep you posted with upcoming presentations.
