Among the photos of the St. Patrick’s Parade, carried out last Saturday, the 19th of March and published in this edition, you will find one of Wayne Hayes, his wife Kathy and Firefighter Juan “Manny” Gonzalez carrying a Heal Lawrence pennant, the organization they founded and represent.
Heal Lawrence is an organization involved in helping fire victims in the city of Lawrence, which we all know are many and frequent and now it is associated with the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council.
Anyone can have a fire in their home, for which we must be prepared, especially if we rent the apartment in which we live with our family. For much help that Heal Lawrence and GLCAC could provide, we never fully replenish the items lost in a fire.
Among the benefits GLCAC brings to this partnership is its classification as a 501 (c) 3, non-profit, that by becoming Heal Lawrence’s fiscal agent it allows donors to deduct their contributions from their taxes to non-profit organizations.
With fire victims in mind, Heal Lawrence has ordered the manufacture of t-shirts with the logo of Heal Lawrence. They sell at a modest price of $15.00 which you could claim on your tax return. With the proceeds from the sale of these shirts, Heal Lawrence raises much needed funds with which to help fire victims.
This sounds very nice, but as we have said before and are not tired of repeating it, it is your responsibility to insure your belongings since is very economical when compared you’re your potential loses in a fire. Talk to your insurance agent. Do your part; do not wait for manna to fall from the sky.
