Lawrence is a city that historically, has been inhabited by immigrants from many different nationalities. All of us have brought the best of our cultures and use every opportunity to prove it proudly.
We are sure that we’ve touched on this subject before, and these days of celebration was a clear example of what we have been saying. Here, we celebrate during two days with different events for the same reason.
This year, the first celebration was held at the Lawrence Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday the 3rd, organized and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lawrence where the diversity of cultures was evident and it was different in many aspects, with events for all ages including face painting, clowns, dominoes, bingo, music by DJ and meals for everyone taste and last but not least, a fantastic fireworks display at the end of the night.
The second celebration held on Saturday 4th called Old Fashioned held during the morning for eleven consecutive years at Lawrence Heritage State Park, transported us to the traditions of the 19th Century.
What better way to say “thank you” to our veterans for their sacrifice because it has allowed us all to celebrate this day in peace with our families.
We look forward to seeing you all there next year.
