Last Thursday, January 2, 2020, the City of Lawrence held the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected members of the City Council, as well as the members of the Lawrence School Committee and the Lawrence Technical School.

Members of the Lawrence Police began the event by displaying the colors followed by Mayor Daniel Rivera and the newly elected/re-elected councilors and committees. Among the guests of honor was Francisco Urena, Massachusetts Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs.

After a few welcoming remarks by the City Clerk, William Maloney, Junior ROTC Captain Santos opened the ceremony by singing the National Anthem. Pastor Mercedes Martínez Arias of the Iglesia Ministerio Evangelístico was in charge of the invocation of the event and Rev. Christopher Casey V.F. from the Church Our Lady of Good Counsel gave a prayer for Public Safety.
