The best time to be in Lawrence

Feast of the Three Saints
Feast of the Three Saints

The Labor Day festivals are approaching and the best time of year to be in Lawrence.  There are many festivals, food, cultural performances that come to us in many different languages.

We at Rumbo are honored to be one of the sponsors of the Feast of the Three Saints and the Festival of Bread and Roses, and strongly advise our members of Spanish-speaking community to continue being part of this tradition.

The Feast of the Three Saints already being held for 92 consecutive years, takes place on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday, September 6th 2015.  The central attraction this year is the concert on the main stage at the end of Common St., with tenor Michéal Castaldo.

On Saturday and Sunday the fun for the whole family continues, including the Parade of Lights, the procession of the Three Saints and to close, the orchestra of B Street Bombers.

Also on Saturday and Sunday, St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church will have its Mahrajan, a Lebanese annual festival with the best food, belly dancers and traditional music. It is great fun watching the young dancing to his infectious folk music.

The Bread and Roses Festival to be held Monday, September 7 in the Campagnone Park has been paying tribute to the past 30 years to the many nationalities who have lived and worked in Lawrence a century ago and the contributions they made to the labor movement.

Lawrence Heritage State Park always makes a Herculean task to get representatives from many different countries to bring the taste of the people who created this brave city.

These are a few days not to stay home.  Get out and enjoy learning about the cultures that made Lawrence what it is today, while paying tribute to those who worked so hard to give us the working conditions that we cherish today.
