Along with the summer festivities, although it is still more than a month away, the Hispanic Week festivals come with their colorful “nights”, when the participating countries show the best of their cultures.
To this we must add the pageants, an important part of the festivals where girls of all ages show their talent often dressed in traditional costumes from their native region, something that has become a mark of identification amongst the Spanish-speaking society.
These contests are a wonderful experience for the girls and their families who spend a lot of money and time preparing them for the competition and, as a rule, that night is full of fun and everyone who attends enjoys it.
Good example of this is the pageant that the Puerto Rican Movement successfully carried out on April 28 at the Apostolic Ministry Church and published in our issue #622 of May 1, 2018. The jury did a magnificent job in the election of the Queens, Runner-ups and Princesses but we are sure that the members breathed easy when told they did not have to select the Best Typical Costume that night because an agreement would have been very difficult.
As we announced in the aforementioned edition 622, Semana Hispana will be celebrating its first contest of Pequeñitas, Chiquititas and Infantil at the Senior Center of Lawrence, when they will elect their queens, runner-ups and princesses from each group.
Until the time of writing these notes, we have not yet received the list of activities and the dates to be held during Hispanic Week. As soon as we receive it, it will be published and we can then make comments, not based on speculation.
