Lawrence, a special city

There is no doubt that Lawrence is a special city in terms of entertainment opportunities.  Often free of charge, others nearly for free, you can enjoy activities with your family without having to travel out of town.

We are sure that we have already touched on this subject before, and this weekend was a clear example of what we have been saying. Despite the weather, we enjoyed an Old-Fashioned 4th of July celebration with traditions from the 19th Century, held at Lawrence Heritage State Park. On Saturday the 5th, we enjoyed the fireworks presented by the city and the Rotary Club.

On Saturday and Sunday we had the Kelly Miller Circus in the grounds of the Lawrence Airport.  For a small admission fee they presented a variety show of great quality. They are presented every year by the Lions Club of North Andover. If you missed it this year, be aware that they will be back next year.

Merrimack River boat rides are back this summer courtesy of Lawrence Heritage State Park from the Boat House (Bashara Boat House) located at #1 Eaton Street in South Lawrence and is free to all. All you have to do is call in advance and make reservations at Heritage State Park (978) 794-1655.

Another fun has been added in Lawrence. It’s the Mini-Golf that just opened on the third floor of the Everett Mill, located at 15 Union Street. Although it has a modest price of admission if your kids like golf, you can walk there and with fuel prices this year, it is imperative to take advantage of every opportunity offered to us.
