As the title says, the summer almost arrived, since the cold temperatures, the snow, although little this year, and the ice that did not let us out have already been left behind. It’s time to enjoy our favorite outdoor activities. They could be working in the yard or garden, playing your favorite sport, or simply cooking outside with family and friends.

It is also time to enjoy the festivals that this season brings us each year. The Hispanic Week pageants are over, after selecting a series of talented young Latinas whose photos appear on our pages, and who will represent our community for the rest of the year, especially during the festivities that are about to begin.

Next Friday, June 7, is the VIP Lunch marking the beginning of the festival season where the newly selected Queens, Runner-ups and Princesses of 2019 will be presented to the public along with the Grand Marshalls, and this year will be Attorney Richard Rodriguez and Wanda Rivera.

On Saturday the 8th, the cultural nights begin with Colombia, followed by Peru on Sunday the 9th. The nights of Mexico, Ecuador, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic are still to be announced, ending with a three-day festival on the Campagnone Common.

Also pending confirmation are the dates for the Dominican Parade, the Bread and Roses Festival, the Three Saints Festival and the annual Mahrajan for the end of summer, are the festivals that make Lawrence the City of Festivals.

Enjoy all the festivals always showing moderation, putting ahead your own safety and that of your family.
